One of the things I LOVE about being a wedding / portrait photographer is getting involved in the lives of the people I met on island over the years: when I received an email from Chanay, asking to take a few pictures for Valentine's, I was thrilled. I've known this gorgeous girl since she was a teenager and it's a pleasure to see her now as a smart, independent, happy and beautiful woman.
Women are amazing. Recently I met Lorena: mother of 3 GORGEOUS kids, loving wife, caring doctor at InterHealth TCI and owner of La Bouquetiere. Her unique talent captured all my attention: she creates unique seashells bouquets, 100% handmade in the Turks and Caicos Islands. As a professional photographer I'm always looking to hide a possible imperfection but, trust me, I didn't have to: I tossed and turned the bouquets in every possible way - not a single wire can be spotted!
Competition for Miss Turks and Caicos 2013 has began. The contestants describe themselves as beautiful, intelligent, sociable, and having the determination to become a beauty ambassador. Last Sunday I had the pleasure to photograph Tye - the elegant and vibrant colours of Grace Bay Club matched the beautiful girl's personality. As Audrey Hepburn said: "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows...".
Give me a camera, a couple in love, a smiling kid, the vibrant colours of the Turks and Caicos... et voila, you made my day! Taking pictures is what I love to do - simple. I spent a fantastic hour photographing Melanie, Jaime and Noah - wedding dress out of the closet, a flower in the hair, a lot of romance and the contagious smile of a wonderful kid = I just kept on asking for "just one more picture" only about 30 times :)
A present on Christmas day is often taken for granted... but when it arrives a month later, full of surprises, excitement and the best friends ever, it can only be fabulous. Chrystel and Steve invited Eric and I to share an adventurous day in North and Middle Caicos: I have been to the islands dozens of times but the pristine beaches, relaxed atmosphere, friendly people and the lush vegetation never stop to amaze me. A little bit of rain and a lot of clouds, didn't spoil the fun - nor the pictures taking!
Shopping for the perfect gown takes time, energy, money and patience - the producers of "Say Yes to the Dress", "Girl meets Gown", "Wedding Dress Wars" certainly know it. It's a shame to wear the gown only for a day! When I found out that Judith took her dress all the way from Hungary to the Turks and Caicos, I jumped at the idea of taking a few pictures of her and Gabo.
Only 6 more sleeps... only 3 more sleeps... one 1 more sleep... we are finally in the Turks and Caicos! I love Alyssa's counting of the days and everything else about her: she is the smart, joyful, beautiful and incredibly sweet. I'm sure mom and dad, can take most of the credit for their 6 years old's talents and personality. Let me introduce "little miss chatterbox" (Alyssa description of herself) - I bet you will love her too!
While working on my portfolio, I had the opportunity to photograph my friend Caroline, from Toulouse, France. It was a pleasure to work with her: officially an awesome hair stylist (Maxime le Salon), she posed for the camera like a real model. The Turks and Caicos are "Beautiful by Nature", but the inhabitants, native or not, make the island look even better!
Salt Lake City , Utah: -9°F; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos: 81°. No wonder why Megan and Tyson choose a destination wedding! Hosted at the beautiful Villa Palermo by "Sea Feathers", this intimate event was as sweet as the newlyweds. No stress, no fuss, no worries: just the joy of saying "I do", surrounded by the immediate family and the turquoise water of the island.
Kristen and Tom's engagement session was super fun! I loved Kristen's colourful dress, her Jimmy Choo sandals and, more than anything, their amazing complicity. The couple took a short trip to the island to finalise the wedding details, which will take place at Grace Bay Club next October. Congratulations, you two!!
