My latest “Out of Office” reply read: “A recent study found that vacations are good for the brain and can increase performance at work. This calls for further research!“.

Well, my brain is refreshed, my spirit is happy, my body is rejuvenated (and chunkier 🥴), and it’s time to share some beautiful memories of Patagonia, Argentina.

Patagonia is the land of lore and legend. On South America’s southern frontier, nature grows wild, barren and beautiful. Spaces are large, as are the silences that fill them.

I LOVE to travel. And I live by the Dalai Lama suggestion: “Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” Twice a year is even better 🙂

A newsletter from Condor Tours and Travel inspired this very special trip. I used the service of this amazing company twice in the past (Peru & Colombia); Lori Snow always exceed my expectations – it was time to contact her again.

Let’s start form the beginning…

Among the Earth’s most dynamic and accessible ice fields, Glaciar Perito Moreno is the stunning centerpiece of the southern sector of Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. It’s 30km long, 5km wide and 60m high, but what makes it exceptional in the world of ice is its constant advance – it creeps forward up to 2m per day, causing building-sized icebergs to calve from its face.

Icebergs, mammoth ice sheets, majestic mountains and the third biggest freshwater reserve on the planet.

From Calafate we took a bus to El Chalten: the national capital of trekking in Argentina. A dip in the freezing water and fun rafting is a must (Photo Credit: Mil Outdoor)

5:30 wake up call: we can’t miss the spectacular view of the sunrise over the Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy. Luckily my travel buddy, aka Craig, my husband, my best friend and the love of my life, is game on.

Being immersed in unspoiled nature open up all your senses. Your body recharges with energy and pure mountain air.

You can take the girl out of the island but you can’t take the island out of the girl… Being barefoot after a 4 hours hike (Loma del Pliegue Tumbado) felt so good!

How does it feel to get up after a 30km hike and no proper training?!? To want is to can – hike #2 (Laguna Capri – Mirador Fitz Roy).

It’s time to head to the “End of The World”. Ushuaia here we come!

A 150-mile stretch of water separating the archipelago of Tierra del Fuego from a series of smaller islands, the Beagle Channel has a long, turbulent history and an equally dramatic visual impact upon those who visit.

The southernmost railway in the world, The Prisoner’s Train recreates its historic journey, onboard panoramic coaches and inmersed in the beautiful landscapes of the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

What to do when you can’t fly your drone?!? Go for a plane ride!

Check out the pilot… my very first flying lesson: FANTASTIC!

Martillo Island: magellanic and gentoo penguins are all over. So happy!

Penguins mate for life and they propose with a pebble. As if they are not adorable enough…

We had visitor: a King Penguin

Trees shaped by the permanent and strong winds: cool and creepy.

There is not trip to Argentina without a stop in Buenos Aires. I didn’t take a lot of photos in the capital city, with the exception of colorful barrio of La Boca.

The nature, the people, the history, the food & wine, makes Patagonia – Argentina a “Must see before you die” country.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. – Jawaharial Nehru
