Once in a while I receive a special gift, such as the opportunity to capture this super gorgeous couple’s beach engagement photos. I picked up Cady and Steven from La Vista Azul hotel and within minutes we were shooting in the picturesque Turtle Cove Marina’s beach.
The rock formation gave us texture and colour, offering the perfect background for a stunning engagement photo shoot. We played, had fun, laughed, exercised and got sexy (well, they did!) while spending a great hour barefoot on the Turks and Caicos beach.
Besides meeting new people and capture great photos every day, one of the thing I lost the most about my job is to hear the story that brought couple, families and friends together. Cady kindly agreed to share hers with all of us:
“Steven and I met when I was a freshman in college. He played football and practiced near the track where I ran everyday. He claims that he still remembers what I wore the first time he saw me running. We transferred to different colleges and lost contact until a few years later when we reconnected and it was history from there.Â
Steven and I were dating and both seniors in college when I told him I would have to move from our home state of Mississippi to New York City to pursue my career while he lived back in Mississippi to finish up college. I was really nervous about his reaction, but he supported me throughout the whole process; every effort spent to get there, the actual moving process, the adjusting to a new place, every phone call after long work days and nights, he was there for all of it and more than supportive. One day I was working late and a friend of mine in NYC messaged me and asked me to meet him in downtown after work. I reluctantly agreed although I was working late and after I got off, I took a taxi to Washington Square Park. Under the Washington Square monument arch in the distance was Steven. He had flown all the way from Mississippi to New York City without me knowing. Before I could even grasp him being there, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him.Â
I am so thankful for all that Steven has done for me and I cannot wait to become his wife. We will be moving back to New York City after I finish my CPA to live and I am over the moon.Â

I haven’t asked a guy to take off his shirt in a while… but I knew this time it would be worth it!
Let me add a note about morning and early afternoon photo shoots: the colours of the water are fantastic. However the shadows and contrasts are strong and harsh; please consider that it is extremely difficult to look at the camera without squinting and sweating. Interacting shots like the ones above (with the exception of a couple of images taken in the shade of a tree) are the best and only option. If you need some help hiding a few flaws, the soft light is your best friend; but if you look like Cady and Steven, then you can rock your engagement photo shoot at anytime!
